The Pack-Ox Merchant Route is an ancient network of cart tracks that linked communities in what we now call Lanna. Anusorn initiated the project by inviting practitioners born on this route to convey the stories of their areas, oral histories, and personal memories through sight, sound, interactive elements, and spirit. The exhibition is located in a former bookstore in Chiang Rai City. Even though these are modern-day stories, they are rooted in the history that detains the identities and separates the cultural and environmental resources of these communities for the benefit of others. In addition, MAIIAM will open a temporary guesthouse for other practitioners visiting Chiang Rai to engage with the artworks in the exhibition, give talks, and more along with the 2 month exhibition, in the hope of expanding the alliance for cultural decentralization.
