Sriwan Janehuttakarnkit

Born in 1953, Bangkok. Lives and works in Chiang Rai.

Sriwan Janehuttakarnkit graduated from Silpakorn University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts in 1976 and 1979, respectively. She spent 30 years teaching art in many universities in Bangkok and other cities in Thailand. After retirement, she left Bangkok to reside in Chiang Saen district, Chiang Rai and founded the Sridonmoon Art Space.

Sriwan is known for her paintings and sculptures, as well as ceramic works that often incorporate scenery and Thai traditional painting techniques in conjunction with natural contemporary painting. Her work is known for its bold colors, complex details and layered components which reflects her interest in blending art, culture and local identity. Furthermore, the content in the work reflects her thoughts and feelings at that time as she tried to understand the physical and mental changes according to Buddhist teachings, and nature.
