Primary Forms

Discover the groundbreaking "Primary Forms" project, an initiative by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw that's reshaping the way art and education intersect. Launched in 2021 and returning with its third edition in September 2023, Primary Forms brings art to primary schools, community centers, libraries, and local art spaces.

At its core, Primary Forms introduces a "dormant" exhibition within a box, featuring contributions from international artists. These boxes are distributed across various educational and community settings, allowing children and users to interpret and arrange the artworks according to their needs and feelings.

This innovative concept breaks free from traditional linear time and lets you experience art in countless ways. The works can be scenography, didactic aids, decorations, or even part of the school's infrastructure. Some encourage pedagogical processes, while others challenge the status quo and open doors to experimental and poetic exercises.

Embracing the spirit of Paulo Freire's critical pedagogy, Primary Forms encourages problem-posing and questioning, rather than just information deposition. It's a folding model of art, education, and architecture that liberates the imagination of students.
