Art will lead to the complicated secrets hidden in Chiang Saen. The unheard sounds, the unseen traces, are sending a message saying "I am here, in Chiang Saen". Art goes beyond what we see of the ancient city of Chiang Saen with its archaeological sites and historical inscriptions. There are also ancestors, ghosts, Nagas, and guardians who helped create and whose unseen traces remain. Artist Kader Attia compares all those things to the rain that leaves its mark on archeological sites. Artist Chitti Kasemkitvatana will present the spoken voices of people in various languages over time up to the present. When you stand facing the mysteries of Chiang Saen, you will feel the power of all things that come through the artists' works. The hidden mysteries of Chiang Saen, layered and tucked away, can be compared to Chiang Saen's folk poetry, which says:
“Arabian jasmines are in bloom while Butterfly lilies are in blossom.
Dendrobium draconis are in bloom while Dendobium lindleyis are in blossom.
In the blowing of the wind, fragrance spreads.
In the blowing of the wind, blossoms dance."

About Artists
Kader Attia (Berlin / Paris)
Born in Seine-Saint-Denis, 1970.
Lives and works in Berlin and Paris. Kader Attia grew up in Paris and in Algeria. Preceding his studies at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and at Escola Massana, Centre d’Art i Disseny in Barcelona, he spent several years in the Congo and South America.
Kader Attia’s work has been shown in group shows and biennials such as the 12th Shanghai Biennial; the 12th Gwangju Biennial; the 12th Manifesta, Palermo; the 57th Venice Biennial; dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel; Met Breuer, New York; Kunsthalle Wien; MoMA, New York; Tate Modern, London; Centre Pompidou, Paris; or The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York — just to name a few. In 2016, Kader Attia was awarded with the Marcel Duchamp Prize, followed by the Prize of the Miró Foundation, Barcelona, and the Yanghyun Prize, Seoul, in 2017.
Chitti Kasemkitvatana

Bangkok based artist, independent curator and educator. His methodology relies on research-based art practice that relates to the use of archival fragments and spatial practice. Applying a new materialist lens, he focuses on entangled ideas in sociocultural history. His artistic operation involves transmission of collective memories via object-device and conversion of data - to study the convergence of things, in the form of conversation, collision, as well as diffraction. A recipient of the 22nd Silpa Bhirasri Creativity Grants in 2023 and DAAD Artist-in-Berlin Programme in 2014, his work has been shown in national and international institutions such as Le Plateau / Frac Ile-de-France, Paris; Guangdong Times Museum, Guangzhou; CEAAC, Strasbourg; daadgalerie, Berlin; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei and Art Centre Silpakorn University, Bangkok.
