Lives and works in Singapore
bani haykal’s work lies at the intersection of political economy, music, and speculative fiction. His projects examine the perceptions, relevancy, and cultures of sound and music, often materialising through collaborations with artists from a wide range of creative fields, as a means to discover new audio-visual forms. His installations, writings, and compositions can be interpreted as a language with which to decipher the wider political and technological programmes shaping contemporary culture.
haykal’s work is a critical rumination on the conditions of freedom, marked by improvisation, neglected histories, and the inventive recycling of found materials.
