Luana Vitra was born and raised in the state of Minas Gerais, in a region known for its monumental natural landscapes and deeply marked by industrial mining activities. Vitra has exhibited in major Brazilian museums, including Museu de Arte de São Paulo, and both Museu de Arte and Museu de Arte Moderna (Rio de Janeiro), as well as international venues such as the South London Gallery, Framer Framed (Amsterdam), and the Foundation for Contemporary Art in Accra. Her work Pulmão da Mina (Lung of the Mine) was featured in the 35th São Paulo Biennial. She is also part of the 16th Sharjah Biennial: to carry, which opened in February 2025. In 2023, she held solo exhibitions, which include Giro at Inhotim and As contas do meu rosário são balas de artilharia (The Beads of My Rosary Are Artillery Bullets) at Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam.
