Robert Zhao Renhui is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the entangled relationships between nature and culture through installation, photography, video and sculpture. His work examines the diverse and interdependent beings and things that shape our world. Zhao’s solo exhibitions include The Forest Institute (2022) in Singapore and Monuments in the Forest (2023) in Shanghai. He has participated in major biennales, including those of Busan, Singapore, Taipei, Jakarta, and Sydney. Zhao received Singapore’s National Arts Council Young Artist Award in 2010 and was shortlisted for the prestigious Hugo Boss Asia Art Award in 2017. Most recently, he represented Singapore at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
